Companies that invest in accessibility not only follow the law but also build a positive brand image and improve customer satisfaction. Since June this year, WCAG standards have become especially important for online stores, banking systems, mobile apps, and e-learning platforms.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-what-is-wcag-8\">What is WCAG?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>WCAG (Web Content Accessibility Guidelines) is an international set of rules that explains how to design websites and apps so they are usable by as many people as possible \u2013 including those with disabilities. The current versions are WCAG 2.1 and 2.2, and the guidelines are divided into three levels of compliance: A, AA, and AAA. Most public and commercial projects now aim for the AA level as the standard.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mediaflex.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-9-1024x627.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6759\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-basic-wcag-principles-11\">Basic WCAG Principles<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Perceivable<\/strong> \u2013 Content should be available in multiple ways, e.g., alternative text for images and proper color contrast.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Operable<\/strong> \u2013 The website should work without a mouse, meaning full keyboard navigation and clearly accessible interactive elements.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Understandable<\/strong> \u2013 Content and interface should be intuitive, with clear and predictable messages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Robust<\/strong> \u2013 The website\u2019s code should follow standards to ensure it works in different browsers and with assistive technologies.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-wcag-2-2-the-newest-standards-17\">WCAG 2.2 \u2013 the newest standards<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Older projects can still meet WCAG 2.1, but new ones should follow the latest WCAG 2.2 guidelines. It includes all previous rules plus a few new ones:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Focus Not Obscured<\/strong> \u2013 The focused element (e.g., a button) cannot be fully hidden.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Focus Appearance<\/strong> \u2013 The focus indicator must be clearly visible and have good contrast.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dragging Movements<\/strong> \u2013 Actions requiring dragging must have an alternative way to interact.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Target Size<\/strong> \u2013 Clickable elements must be at least 24\u00d724 pixels to ensure easy access.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Consistent Help<\/strong> \u2013 Help options (like contact, chat, or FAQ) must be easy to find and appear consistently on all pages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Redundant Entry<\/strong> \u2013 Users should not have to re-enter the same information multiple times.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Accessible Authentication<\/strong> \u2013 Logging in should not rely only on memory or complex inputs; alternative, accessible login methods should be available (e.g., no CAPTCHA).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mediaflex.pl\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/image-12.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-6762\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<div style=\"height:20px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"aioseo-what-changed-on-june-28-2025-28\">What changed on June 28, 2025?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>On this date, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) came into effect, introducing important new rules for companies across the EU. From now on, the obligation to ensure digital accessibility applies to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>online stores and shopping platforms,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>online banking services,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>e-books and e-readers,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ticket machines, self-service kiosks, and POS devices,<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>mobile apps and public service websites.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s important to note that these rules don\u2019t apply only to public institutions \u2013 they also cover private companies, including software developers, publishers, e-commerce operators, and digital service providers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Businesses are now required to provide an accessibility statement, technical documentation, and a channel for reporting accessibility issues.
